Dr. Robert “Tito” Norris

Dr. Robert “Tito” Norris is the visionary behind the FiT.20. Drawing on his specialized training, clinical experience and engineering background, Dr. Norris designed the system he’d like to use. By reducing the slot dimensions and smoothing the archwire corners, his revolutionary design produces broadened smiles for optimal results. Dr. Norris attended University of Texas at Austin where he received his bachelor’s degree with honors in Biology, and a minor in Mechanical Engineering. He was salutatorian of this dental school class at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. He completed a General Practice Residency at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. He completed his orthodontics specialty training at Howard University, and graduated as valedictorian with the highest GP in the Orthodontic Department’s 25-year history.

At 18 years old, mainstream clear aligner therapy is a relatively new addition to the field of orthodontics. What most in the industry saw as a technique or system with a narrow application now makes up anywhere from 15% to 25% of orthodontic case starts. But here’s the catch: today’s graduating orthodontists, the group that should be the most tech-savvy, don’t get trained on the technology of moving teeth with plastic. Is Amazon Ready to Make Its Move Into Dental?

It was the stock report heard round the world of dentistry. From Dental Tribune:

In a report published by Morgan Stanley, analysts stated that Amazon was now gunning for the dental supply business and some of the industry’s biggest players are in their cross hairs. As a result, Morgan Stanley changed their position on both Henry Schein and Patterson to sell.

In the days since the report was first issued, there’s been a lot of hand-wringing and nervous glances, but no confirmation from Amazon. Neither Henry Schein nor Patterson are panicking publicly about the report. But you can be sure if they weren’t preparing for this eventuality, they are now.
